We know what is fat!
Though very disgraced, the fat is an important nutrient, for
it provides the energy reserve for the body. Several fatty acids are required
by the body which it can’t produce itself, so it relies on external sources.
Fat absorbs the much needed vitamins A, D, E, and K. It also keeps the skin and
our hair healthy and protects the organs.

Good and bad
There are types of fat, good and bad (which should be
avoided). Good fats are unsaturated fats, while the bad fats are trans fats and
saturated fats. Trans fats generally found in fast foods are linked to heart
diseases. Saturated fats lead to cardiovascular diseases. On the other hand the
saturated fats protect the heart and reduce the danger of cardiovascular diseases.
There main sources include oils like peanut, sunflower, olive etc.

Fast food and bad fats
The average diet to maintain a body requires about 2000
calories per day which is supplied by the meals we do. However, to make the
food tasty, the fast food companies tend to do some actions which lead to a
good amount of fat which has a sizeable portion of saturated and trans fats.
Due to the good taste, one tends to order it more than required and thus intakes
an amount close to the daily limit, which exceeds when the other meals are
consumed. Add to this the sedentary lifestyle, the fat tends to deposit and one
gains weight (FAT!) Undoubtedly it is bound to harm you.
But why me?
Having explained the harms above, you still see some people
consuming a lot more food and they still remain slim and no matter how less you
eat you can notice the increase in your diameter. WHY IS THIS SO? THAT’S SO
UNFAIR!
To answer this, I must say that there is a lot of research
going on in this field, but as of now it could be due to these reasons-
HIGH BMR. BMR is the acronym of basal metabolic rate. It is
the amount of energy the body requires to maintain itself when not doing any
other activity (including digestion). This energy is used to pump blood,
breathing, brain functions etc. Some people have high BMR than others, so they
are able to consume enough energy even without doing anything extra thus
keeping their figure under control.
Physical activity. According to the NIH, those who do
physical exercises initially use the energy gained from the carbohydrates and
after about 20 mins., energy from stored fats is used, thus consuming it, hence
keeping the amount of fat under control. It is said that approximately 3 hours
of exercise every week can help one remain in good shape.
Type of food. If one consumes lot of food which is low in
energy density, the amount of fat consumed would remain lesser than expected.
These foods included fruits, vegetables, soups etc. Dry fruits have more energy
content than the fresh food.
Genetic reasons. Some people are gifted by birth by those lucky
genes which have a tendency to make the body skinny even if lot of fat is
consumed. Vice versa some have the genes predisposed towards excessive weight
leading to weight gain. That’s pure luck!

So, this must have given some clarification to you about the
different response to fat by different people. One again, I reiterate that
these are just few related causes and research is still on, so treat this just
as informational purpose and as your FOOD for thought!
Having said that, it doesn't necessarily mean that thin people are fit, and they do need to take steps to keep their fat under control. You dont have to look fat to be certain about the dangers you may face.
Cheers!
